Natural Red Sandalwood 108 Bead Mala
Description
A long line of deep red wood, interrupted by two yellow accents and one soft green focal bead. This natural red sandalwood mala uses 108 main beads, approximately 8 mm each, with a loose cord finish that moves as the strand is handled.
Red sandalwood and the Putuo connection
Known in Chinese as xiaoye zitan, red sandalwood is prized for the depth of its reddish wood grain. The tree associated with this material, Pterocarpus santalinus, is native to southern India. This mala is supplied with a Putuo Mountain association; that reference does not establish where its timber was grown. The harvest origin of this strand has not been verified.
A small break in a rich color
Yellow brings a warm point of light to the burgundy-brown beads, while the pale green focal detail gives the eye somewhere to rest. Gold-tone touches frame the accent without taking over the strand. Against navy cotton or an unbleached linen shirt, the wood's darker shades remain the center of the design.
Counting, returning, beginning again
A 108-bead mala has a place in Buddhist recitation traditions, where each bead helps mark a repeated phrase. For everyday wear, that steady sequence can stand for patience and returning to an intention. Its Eastern bead tradition meets the easy layering of Western accessories: wear the strand long or wrap it where the fit allows.
Hand assembly with an eye for rhythm
The rounded wood beads are strung by hand, with the colored accents and cord ends arranged as distinct pauses in the sequence. Fine grain and shifts from red to brown keep the surface interesting at close range. Natural wood varies in tone and markings from bead to bead.

The mellow patina on a bracelet
Natural Bracelet Material Guide & Care Instructions
Wood Bracelets
All our wood bracelets are handcrafted from genuine natural timber, each with its own unique porous grain and inherent coloration. With daily wear and gentle handling, natural oils from your skin will gradually absorb into the wood. Over time, the beads will deepen in tone and develop a smooth, warm patina across the surface. This is a completely normal trait of natural wood — not a quality flaw. It is precisely what makes each piece one-of-a-kind, shaped uniquely by your daily routine and touch.
Daily Care Tips:
• Keep your bracelet dry at all times. Always remove it before washing hands, bathing, showering, or exposure to humid, moisture-rich environments. If it does come into contact with water, gently pat it dry with a soft lint-free cloth immediately and leave it to air-dry fully in a well-ventilated spot.
• Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, detergents and other household chemicals to preserve the wood’s natural finish.
• When not being worn, wipe clean and store separately in a soft jewelry pouch or box to protect from scratches and excess moisture.
Stone Bracelets
Our stone bracelets are crafted from natural gemstones and jade, with a dense, stable mineral structure. The color and appearance will not alter significantly with daily wear or handling, and will retain its original texture and luster over time.
Daily Care Tips:
• Regularly wipe away surface dust with a soft dry cloth to keep the beads clean and glossy.
• Protect from heavy impact, drops and hard object pressure, as natural stone can chip or crack.
• Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight, high heat and harsh chemicals to maintain the stone’s natural quality.
Care
1. Keep Dry, Avoid Sweat & Water!!!
Avoid wearing during heavy sweating, and keep away from water, moisture and humid environments. If accidentally wet, gently wipe dry with a soft cloth immediately and air-dry in a well-ventilated place.
2. Stay Away from Chemicals
Avoid contact with perfume, skincare products, detergent, alcohol and other chemicals. We recommend removing your bracelet before applying makeup, washing or doing housework to prevent corrosion and discoloration.
3. Avoid Direct Sunlight & High Heat
Do not expose to direct sunlight for long periods, or place in hot cars or near heaters. High heat accelerates moisture loss, cracking and fading.
4. Store Separately to Prevent Scratches
When not wearing, wipe your bracelet clean and place it in a dedicated jewelry box or flannel pouch. Store separately from other jewelry to avoid friction and surface damage.
5. Gentle Regular Cleaning
Every 1–2 weeks, gently wipe away dust and surface oils with a clean soft cotton or suede cloth to keep the pattern clear and the luster warm.
